This course will explore six reasons for pursuing short-term missions. Built around the keyword, “why,” we consider biblical reasons for mission outreach of all sorts, including short-term outreach. Why should we pursue short-term missions? Because we are called to be His witnesses to all parts of the globe. Because of the vertical relationship that exists between God and people. Because of the horizontal relationship that exists between people. Because of the fruit we seek, or outcomes we want to pursue. Because we are stewards of time and gifts that God has given us. And finally, because of the manifold wisdom of God.

In this course, Dr. Mark Hedinger will lead you through biblical reasons to be involved in short-term missions, the role of the lifestyle witness alongside of propositional witness, the nature of God’s relationship with people, and the nature of people’s relationship with God. We’ll unpack the desired outcomes from mission outreach: the glory of God, the expansion of the Church, and the growth of those who enter ministry.

Dr. Mark Hedinger is Executive Director of CultureBound, a ministry that prepares people for life and work in an unfamiliar language and culture.
